There are guidelines if you or a relative registered with our practice need to contact your GP whilst abroad. We may be able to assist you with basic administrative requests, such as a repeat prescription or to cancel/reschedule an appointment.
GPs are not required by their Terms of Service to provide prescriptions for the treatment of a condition that is not present and may arise while the patient is abroad, this also includes sick note requests and appointments. Clinicians are also not indemnified or insured to give medical advice or treatment while the patient is outside of the UK
Whilst abroad we CAN help you with:
- An urgent request for emailed medical records due to an emergency admission
 - A request to change an appointment time which has been scheduled (perhaps due to your trip being delayed)
 - A request for a repeat prescription to be prepared in time for your return (if you are due to run out).

However, our practice is unable to offer medical advice to a patient who is known to be abroad and presenting with a new condition. We will strongly encourage the patient to seek medical assistance locally.
Whilst abroad, please be aware that we will NOT be able to:
- Provide any medical advice by phone, email or video link
 - Provide an electronic transfer prescription, should you run out of medication
 - Provide any medical assistance
 - Ensure there are suitable medication supplies at your intended destination.
